Sammy is a set and costume designer.

Sammy trained in theatre design at the Slade School of Fine Art. From 1996 - 2014 she was Designer-In-Residence for Sam Walters at The Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond, designing over 70 in-the-round productions. Highlights, directed by Sam Walters inc FAMILY CIRCLES by Ayckbourn, KING CROMWELL by Oliver Ford Davies, SAUCE FOR THE GOOSE by Feydeau and The Vaclav Havel Season. Others highlights include, ENGAGED by W S Gilbert, (dir Tim Carroll), THE MIKADO by Gilbert and Sullivan (dir Chris Monks), THE WOMEN OF LOCKERBIE by Deborah Brevoort (dir Auriol Smith), LARKIN WITH WOMEN by Ben Brown (dir Alan Strachan)

From 2014 Sammy redesigned INVINCIBLE by Torben Betts (dir Ellie Jones), for St James Theatre London, designed and co-directed TALES FROM OVID (with dir David Antrobus) for Edinburgh Festival and designed BLUEBIRD a play for children, for Lightbox Theatre (dir Emma Faulkner). For Central School of Speech and Drama Sammy has designed DEEP BLUE SEA by Terence Rattigan (dir Auriol Smith), HERESY OF LOVE by Helen Edmonson. For Chipping Norton Theatre and The Dukes Lancaster Sammy has designed touring co- productions of STONES IN HIS POCKETS by Maria Jones and THE ISLAND by Athol Fugard (dir John Terry). For Oldham Coliseum, HARD TIMES by Charles Dickens adapted by Stephen Jeffreys, TASTE OF HONEY by Shelagh Delaney and VISITORS by BarneyNorris (dir Chris Lawson). Also in 2019 Sammy gained an Offie nomination for her design of Reared by John Fitzpatrick for BOLD AND SAUCY at 503 (dir Sarah Davey-Hull) as well as designing GIANT, a tree climbing concert in Epping Forest for Arts and Gardens (dir David Antrobus)

Since Covid Sammy has continued to design and teach at CSSD as well as being an associate of BOLD a pop up theatre space in Elephant and Castle, Designing 6 short films and WHAT THEY FORGOT TO TELL US an immersive, devised play about story telling and loss. Her next project at BOLD will be A FOREIGNERS PANTO.
